palCentre has several related dependencies, these are:

  • Visual C++ 2005
  • Visual C++ 2005 Update
  • Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010 runtime.Net Framework 4.6
    • This comes by default on Windows 10. If using an older version of Windows, please ensure you've downloaded and run the installer from the Microsoft website: .Net 4.6 Download
  • SQL Server Compact Edition (only required if using an SQL compact database)

The following steps explain how to install palCentre:

  1. Open the link sent and click on the file called 'DOUBLE CLICK TO INSTALL'to open the zip file. Depending on which file was sent, there may only be the palCentre.msi file

3. The installer for Visual C++ 2005 will appear, click on Run

Click on the correct version of SQL Compact depending on the 'bit' type of Windows you have. Click on run.

Note

Please note SQL Compact Server only needs to be installed if you are using a SQL Compact database.
If you are using a SQL Server database, then click on CANCEL when you get to this step - you can go directly to the installation of palCentre.

3. This will start running the installer. Click on next

Configuring palCentre

palCentre now needs to be configured to interact with the database. There are 2 ways this can be completed:

  1. You need a copy of the configuration file. You can either obtain this from PCOC or it is saved on the computer you have already saved palCentre on. The configuration file can be found under C:\palCentre

  2. Put a copy of this file in the folder C:\palCentre on the computer you are configuring.

  1. Open palCentre. This will start the configuration wizard

  2. The following screen will open, click on Yes and then next.

  3. Click on SQL compact and then locate the pre-configured database. Enter the password 'pcoc'. Click on next.

  4. Enter the encryption key as per the installation checklist documentation and click on next (usually 12345)

  5. This screen is not required so please click on next

  6. palCentre has now been configured correctly. Click on close.

  7. palCentre will have created a configuration file after this installation process. This file can be found under C:\palCentre\ The file name is palcentre.config
