An oMEDD is not required and should not be calculated  (i.e. it does not contain an opioid or is part of an opioid replacement/substitution program).

Combination medications may fit into two groups.

If the medication includes an opioid, e.g. codeine or tramadol, enter only the mg of the opioid to calculate the oMEDD not the mg of paracetamol or NSAID etc.

Check on referral/with patient/clinician if this drug is primarily being taken as part of an opioid substitution program (OSP) or for chronic pain. If unable to establish assume for chronic pain.

If selecting OSP in office use only section tick opioid box and > 2 days a week but do not calculate an oMEDD – leave this field blank.

Note that ePPOC does not require oMEDD values on procedural injectable opioids, or opioids used for intrathecal refills
